To drive during a lesson, you need a licence that is valid in Quebec: learner's licence, probationary licence or regular licence. No licence yet? Start with the Road Safety Education Program (PESR, Programme d'éducation à la sécurité routière).

Preparing for the SAAQ road test
During the test, the SAAQ examiner mainly looks at:
- your observation: mirrors, blind spots, intersections;
- your judgment: speed, distances, right of way;
- your control of the car and your manoeuvres;
- how you follow road signs and rules.
With us, you do a practice run in real traffic. Then the instructor tells you exactly what to fix.
This is preparation, not the official test. The route, the manoeuvres asked and the result depend on the SAAQ on test day.
Are you a learner in the PESR?
The program includes 15 mandatory practice outings with an instructor. Extra hours are not mandatory: they let you practise more of a situation that worries you.
Good to know: you must have held your learner's licence for at least 12 months before taking the SAAQ road test. Practising regularly during that time keeps you comfortable.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a licence to take a refresher lesson?
Yes. To drive during the lesson, you need a licence that is valid in Quebec: learner's, probationary or regular. If your learner's licence has expired, sort it out with the SAAQ first.
Can I use my own car?
No. Lessons are given in the school car, which has a brake on the instructor's side.
How long is a lesson?
You can book by the hour, or take a package of several hours when one is offered. We decide the number of sessions together when we call you back.
How many hours do I need?
It depends on your experience and your goal. After the first lesson, the instructor tells you honestly what is left to practise. Nobody can guarantee a number of hours or a test result.
Do these lessons replace the PESR outings?
No. The program's 15 practice outings are still mandatory. Refresher lessons come on top, if you want more practice.
I am an older driver, or my health has changed. Can these lessons help?
They can help you review some techniques and keep good habits, if your licence allows you to drive. They do not replace a medical assessment or an assessment required by the SAAQ. A health change that can affect driving must be reported to the SAAQ.
I have a licence from another country. Can I take lessons?
Yes, if your licence allows you to drive in Quebec. The SAAQ decides if a foreign licence is valid here and if it can be exchanged. Lessons do not replace that process.
Are lessons offered in English?
